Abigail Arnold was the daughter of Benjamin and Thankful (Proctor) Barrett. The proof can be found in her father's will which was probated in Worcester County on 25 Apr 1786. Her father Benjamin Barrett lived in Brookfield at the time of his death. He clearly identifies his daughter as Abigail, wife of Esek Arnold. Prior to their arrival to the Brookfield/Warren area in 1777, both the Barrett and Arnold families resided in Pomfret, Windham, Connecticut. The first four children of Esek and Abigail Arnold (Joseph, Sarah, Anna who died as an infant and Anna again) were born in Pomfret. Their other children were born in Warren and their births are recorded in the town's vital records.
