Mr. Mankey, a son of George and Hannah McCullough Mankey, was born near Ninevah, Greene County, August 4, 1865 and lived in that section until 1910 when he moved to Washington County. He spent the remainder of his life in the Amity and Chestnut Ridge communities. He followed farming all his life.
His first wife, Lucy Belle Condit Mankey, is deceased. They were the parents of two sons, George D. Mankey, Washington, R. D. 4 and H. L. Mankey, San Antonio, Texas.
Jan. 5, 1895, he was united in marriage with Miss Dora Wilson, of Prosperity, who survives. They celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary Jan. 3, 1945.
Five children of this union survive; A. O. Mankey, T. L. Mankey, and Glenn Mankey, all of Amity, and Ray Mankey and Lavina, wife of Clark N. Hathaway, of Washington, R. D. 4.
Also surviving are twenty grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and the following sisters: Mrs. Kate Saunders, Baker Station; Mrs. Mary Ullom, Misses Belle and Nellie Mankey, of Waynesburg, and Miss Roxie Mankey, of Ninevah.
