Louisa Wood(w)ard Chadwick Gorton is buried in Meech/Cabot cemetery in Wheatfield Twp, Ingham County, MI. She died January 19, 1861 at age 67 years, 1 month, 17 days.
Found a 20 year old family group sheet with her parents given as Joseph Woodard and Rachel Towner. This parental assignment is comfortable with the 1830 census in which Louisa Chadwick is next door to Joseph Woodard. A couple of her descendants have Ancestry DNA matches with Woodard & Towner families.
Found notes on the web where someone ~1945 listed the children including Eunice, born 20 Jul 1810. Other records give her husband as Samuel G. Smith, with two sons Lorenzo and Clinton who married Copeland sisters in Philadelphia. Emily Lowell's probate packet online at Ancestry also gives that there was a sister Eunice Smith and she left off-spring.
Clinton Smith (1833-1903) Find-a-Grave #107863171
Lorenzo Smith (1832-1892) Find-a-Grave #89636855
The other children identified in the notes were Aaron (20 Feb 1815 – 21 May 1818 in NY) and Elijah Murry (14 Sep 1822, NY). I have not found Elijah Murry Chadwick and he is not mentioned in the probate papers of Emily Lowell. This brings the number of known children to 12 if George Lafayette Gorton is included. Mahala’s obituary says there was a family of 13 children.
Daughter Emily Lowell left a will. The associated probate papers on Ancestry give lots of offspring.
Daughter Rachel Chadwick Simons and son John Chadwick witnessed Mahala Chadwick and Henry Collier's marriage.
