Artemus Smith, 69, of the House of David, Benton Harbor, died at 8:30 p.m. at the colony after a three-month illness. He had been a member of the colony for 42 years. He was born in Meadville, Pa., on June 23, 1890. He was married to Eva Walker on Nov. 27, 1911 in Meadville. She survives, as do a son, Dale, of the colony, and two granddaughters. A son preceeded him in death. Mr. Smith was manager of the colony's miniature trains. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Crystal Springs cemetery, Benton Harbor. The Rev. Richard Selmer, St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed church pastor, will officiate.
