Mabel L. Parker, 96, of Springfield passed away Monday July 26, 2010, at the Heritage Manor Nursing Care in Springfield.

She was born August 22, 1913, in St. Mary, MO, the daughter of Fred and Mary Ellen Evans Coontz. She married William B. Parker and he preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Carol Parker and two sisters, Eula Boland and Roela Brewster.

Mabel worked at the Velvet Freeze and then retired from Kent's IGA. She was a longtime resident of Springfield, yet always kept her membership at the Saline Baptist Church in Minnith, MO.

Surviving are her children, Robert Parker and Rose Marie (husband Wayne) Young, both of Springfield and William (wife Linda) Parker of Spring Valley, OH. She has six grandchildren, Jeffrey (wife, Donna) Young of Springfield, Pam (husband, Larry) Hinckley of Loami, IL, Aaron (wife, Jennifer) Young of Springfield, Ariel Kimble of Winter Garden, FL, Rachel (husband, Joe) Gorgal of Chicago, and Zachary Parker of Simpson, IL; there are 11 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, where visitation will be on Saturday, July 31, 2010, from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral services there at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Rev. Niel Herr will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
