Duane Mahoney

Duane "Peelie" Mahoney, 73, of 2257 Cooper's Bottom Road, Milton, Ky., died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at his residence.
He was born April 16, 1931, in Milton, Ky., the son of Dennis and Hester Forsee Mahoney. He was a former resident of Columbus, and retired in April 1989 from Arvin Industries in that city after 34 years service. He had worked his way up from general operator to night supervisor in the company. After his retirement he moved back to Milton, where he raised tobacco and took his many beagle dogs rabbit hunting. He was associated with the Trimble County Wesleyan Holiness faith.
Surviving are his wife, Bobbie Mahoney; five daughters, Belinda Fields of Scipio, Sue Elifritz and Laura Mahoney, both of North Vernon, Vicki Land and Marie Elifritz, both of Porter, Texas; three sons, Dennis Mahoney of Scipio, Doug Mahoney of Columbus and Darrell Barski of New Caney, Texas; one adopted daughter, Belinda Abbett of Columbus; 21 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; eight sisters, Sadie Mahoney, Velma Mahoney, Ruby Butts, Norma Jean Hamilton, Louise Murphy, Georgia Wingham, Olga Morgan and Delores Mahoney; four brothers, Floyd, Cecil, Herman and Lloyd Mahoney; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Wood-Oakley Funeral Home in Milton, with burial in the Mahoney Cemetery near Milton.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today; from 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday; and from 10 a.m. Sunday until time of the service, at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may go to Hospice of Louisville, Ky. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
