Mr. Miller was born Nov. 5, 1925, in Green Castle, Pa., and was a son of the late Brom H. and Kathryn Dissinger Miller.
He was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Elkton and Gooden Brothers VFW Post 9292. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. On June 6, 1944, (D-Day), he participated in “Operation Neptune” the naval code name for the Invasion of Normandy. He operated an amphibious landing craft (LCI) and made numerous trips from troop transport ships to the beaches of Normandy. He retired from the Elkton Post Office in 1989 after 30 years service and previously had worked at the 7-Up Bottling Plant for a number of years.
On Jan. 5, 1946, he married Nancy May Boyce Miller, who preceded him in death on Nov. 26, 2006.
He is survived by a son, Brom W. Miller Jr. of Newport News; a daughter, Judith Baugher of Elkton; a sister, Virginia “Tootie” Myers of Harrisonburg; a brother, Jerald Miller of Woodbury, Minn.; half brothers, Benjamin Miller of Harrisonburg and Kenneth Miller of North Carolina; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Robert W. Smith Jr. and the Rev. Dr. Patricia Riggs conducted the funeral service Friday at the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Elkton. Burial followed at the Elk Run Cemetery with graveside rites by the Gooden Brothers VFW Post 9292.
