REMEMEBERING RUGER By Morgan Vine

Ruger was my best friend and I loved him greatly. He was a big dog with an even bigger heart. He was born in 1993 and grew up on Hollywood Beach, and like me was a Hollywood Beach Local. His eyes at times seemed so human-like that we often forgot he was a dog. He too believed he was human. We even had our own language that only we could understand. I would say "iza wanna treat?" and he would start talking and I believe he knew the words, he just had a hard time with the pronunciation (but he tried very hard). He would love to get your (imaginary) flea's. He would do this by getting his muzzle in between your neck and shoulder and he would start chattering his teeth together and when he felt your flea's were good and gone, he would finish off the job with some nice sloppy grooming licks. One of the things he loved to do was pull us on a skateboard. When I would get the skateboard out of the closet he would get up on his hind legs and pull the harness down from the coat rack and set it by the door. He was truly a great dog. I never met a boxer that I didn't like, but Ruger was the best!
