November 9, 1957. James Morgan Britton, 86, of Reedy, Roane County, died Saturday evening at his home following an extended illness. He was born June 2, 1871 in Tyler county, a son of Augustus [Gustavus?] and Elizabeth Musgrave Britton and was a member of the Mount Pleasant Methodist church. He resided in Roane county 72 years. His wife, Mrs. Olena Simms Britton, preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, Dwight L. Britton, Reedy; and J. Rector Britton, Parkersburg; two step-sons, W. H.l Simms, Elizabeth, and Harry Simms, Newark, O.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Murtle Searls, Parkersburg; four grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
The body was removed to the Sinjnett funeral home in Spencer and on Tuesday will be taken to the Good Hope Baptist church for services at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev,. Earl Seaman and the Rev. Mack Boggs officiating. Burial will be in the Simms cemetery.
