From Holland St. John - "Very little is known concerning Phyllis (also spelled Phillis). She was the daughter of Michael and Nancy (Clark) Jones, early settlers in the Black Township, Posey County, Indiana farm area. It has been suggested that she was born in Kentucky around 1806 prior to her parents' move from Lincoln County, Kentucky to southwestern corner of Indiana Territory in 1807-08. Phyllis has two brothers and three sisters: Joel, Samuel, Sarah, Mary and Malinda. According to the U S Census of 1830 her parents had established a farm in Black Township. In her father's will, made out in September 13, 1846, Phyllis had evidentally already died, as she was not mentioned. However, three of her children were listed: Sally Ann (born 1837), Nancy (born 1839), and Mary Burlinson (born 1841). Phyllis had married John Burlinson on April 22, 1826 in Posey County. Other children attributed to the couple but had not been mentioned in Michael's will included George Washington Burlinson (born 1829) and William Harrison Burlinson (born 1833). Little else is known about this family. The exact date of her death and where Phyllis was buried are unkown."
