Who departed this life
April 29th A.D. 1849
In the 89th year of his age
He was a native of County Antrim, Ireland
But was for many years a Citizen of South Carolina
He was many years a member of the
Associate Reformed Church
and adorned the doctrines he professed by a
walk and conversation by a conformity
With the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
He was a kind master, a good neighbor,
A devoted husband, and indulgent father
Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright
For the end of that man is peace. Psalm 37th ver 37th
Preserve O venerable pile.
Inviolate thy sacred trust
To thy cold arms the Christian church
Weeping commits his precious dust
The pains of death are past
Labors and sorrow cease
And life's long warfare closed at last
His soul is found in peace.
