Bingham Purdom Cole was the second of three sons of William Henry Cole and his first wife, Sallie. He was a tall, lanky man who loved his family and that of his wife, Della McCormick Ake Cole. Bingham and Della were married 21 Dec 1921 in Jacksonville, Florida.

Bingham co-owned Riverside Mattress & Upholstery Company with his brother-in-law, R. C. "Lonnie" Ake.

On 6 Oct 1974, the Florida Times-Union published the following death notice in Section B, page 4, column 2.

Funeral services for Mr. Bingham P. Cole, 80, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the graveside in Greenlawn Cemetery with the Rev. John E. Winters officiating. Mr. Cole who lived at 2020 Park St. died Saturday morning at a local hospital. He was born in Atlanta, Ga.

Mr. Cole was a member of Solomon Lodge No. 20 F&A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies, Morocco Temple of the Shrine, and was a veteran of World War I. Mr. Cole was retired owner of Riverside Mattress & Upholstery Co.

Survivors include two half sisters, Louise Gamble, and Gladys Cross, a brother, Alvin G., and three half brothers, Roy, Clyde, and Coot Cole, all of Grantville, Ga., and two cousins, Sarah Volloton, and Frances Lyles, both of Valdosta, Ga.

Hardage-Krauss Riverside Funeral Home, 517 Park Street, is in charge.
