Pfc. Charles Ashmann, twenty-nine year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Ashmann of Collinsville was killed in action near Waldambach, France.

Pfc. Ashmann entered the Armed Forces in March, 1942, and was trained for the infantry at Ft. Lewis, Washington. Before his induction he was employed by the Collinsville Coal Corporation.

He leave behind his wife Irene, a fourteen month old child, his parents, one brother, Bernard; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Boehm, Mrs. Margaret Jalinsky, and Mrs. Julia Mikulait, all of Collinsville.
