Lucas Kantz died yesterday morning at 3:55 o'clock at his home, 114 West Columbia Street, West Lafayette of the infirmities of age. He had been in a feeble condition for several months, but was able to be around the house until a few weeks ago. Mr. Kantz was born at Weilheim, near Hechingen, Hohenzollern, Germany, November 24, 1826. He came to America in 1846 and was married to Dorothea Weil on September 7,1851. She died January 16, 1905. To this union were born thirteen children nine of whom are living, as follows; Miss Mable, who lives at home; Tillman, of Octagon; Andrew, of Lexington; Mrs. Amelia McDonald, of Willmette, Ill; Charles of Shattuck, Olka; George of West Lafayette; Mrs. Thomas Buskirk and William Kantz of Lafayette. He also leaves seventy-six grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Kantz united with the German M.E. church in this city in 1852, and was a constant and faithful member. His religion was exemplified in this every day life and he died rich in the respect of all who knew him. Short services will be held at the
house at 1:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon and final services will be held a the German M.E. church at 2 o'clock.
Burial at Greenbush Cemetery, Lafayette, Indiana.
