Funeral Services for Watt Bear, 87, of Sacramento, CA, were held Sunday, July 18, 2010 at England Hollow Cemetery in Stilwell, OK. Brandon Watt Tiger officiated and casket bearers were Russell K. Bohay, Douglas Bohay, Jacob Bohay, Scott Tsonetokoy, Torrey Goombi, and Patrick Cozad. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home, Sperry.

Watt was born June 8, 1923 in Stilwell, OK to Simon and Lydia (England) Bear. He passed away July 14, 2010 in Sacramento, CA.

Watt moved with his family to California in 1965. He was a full-blood member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma and was fluent in the Cherokee language. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1946. Watt retired after 35 years of service as an electrical inspector at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft. He enjoyed attending powwows and gourd dancing. Watt was also an ordained minister.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jessie Jean Bear; daughters, Gloria White of Paramont, CA, Karen Jo Bohay of Anadarko, and Liz Tiger of Sperry; sons, Stephan Bear of the home and Jonathan Bear of Oregon; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, George Bear; and parents, Simon and Lydia Bear.
