Joe Ruben Walden, 83 years 5 months and 5 days of age, a resident of Somerset, Kentucky, departed this life early on Friday morning, July 16th, 2010 at his home in Somerset surrounded by his loving family.


Joe was born in Burnside, Kentucky on Friday, February 11th, 1927, son of the late William "Bully" Walden and Nina Hardwick Reneau. Joe was united in marriage to Rose Marie Reece at Somerset, Kentucky on August 24th, 1946. He moved to Indiana at an early age and lived most of his life in Indiana before moving back to Pulaski County, Kentucky in 1975. He had worked at Forge and Machinery Tool Company a Division of Chrysler in New Castle, Indiana for 28 years before retring in 1973. Joe loved hunting, fishing, gardening and being outside with his pets and other animals. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II.


Joe was survived by his loving wife, Rose Walden; three children, Suella (and Roger) Boling, Larry (and Susie) Walden, and Jerry (and Kathy) Walden; eight grandchildren, Kent Adkins, Lori Dykes, Ty Boling, Chad Walden, Bradley Bertram, Abby Keil, Dr. Taylor Walden, and AFC Kyle Walden; eight great-grandchildren, Kaley McClure, Jacey Boling, Julia Boling, Kelsea Dills, Hunter Beth Dykes, Savannah Dykes, Landon Adkins and Rachel Walden; two great-great-grandchildren, Sophia Ella Rose Ramey and Isiah Hensley; three brothers, Mike Lee, Don Walden, and Danny Walden; three sisters, Rosalillian Owens, Faye Wiser, and Rosemary Rutherford; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.


He was preceded in death by his parents, William "Bully" Walden and Nina Hardwick Reneau; one son, Billy Vance Walden in 1982; one grandson, Kelly Adkins; one granddaughter, Carrie Walden; three brothers, Johnny Walden, Eddie Walden and Billy Walden; and one sister, Alene Hancock.


Visitations were held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening, July 20th, 2010 at the Lange & New Bros. Family Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.


Funeral services were held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening, July 20th, 2010 in the Chapel of the Lange & New Bros. Family Funeral Home.


Burial was in the South Mound Cemetery in Newcastle, Indiana.
