She passed away at Fairview Manor, Fairmont, Neb., on December 26, 1976, at the age of 90 years, 4 months and 11 days.
She was united in marriage to William E. Nichols on March 28th, 1906 in Lincoln. To this union were born three children, Everett E., Faye and Francis.
They farmed in the Nebraska communities of Greenwood, Alma, and Fairmont. In 1939, they moved to Atlantic, Ia., where William worked for an oil company. Upon retiring, they moved to Creston, Ia., living there until moving to Fairmont in November 1971.
Esther was a former member of the Methodist Church in Atlantic, Ia. She was preceded in death by her husband, William; a son Francis, five brothers and two sisters.
Surviving her are a son, Everett E., and wife of Fairmont; a daughter, Mrs. Gilbert (Faye) Scheef and husband of Fremont; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Virginia Barringer of Atlantic, Ia.; a sister, Mrs. Lillie Walrad of Tabitha Home in Lincoln; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted from the Fairmont Community Church, Fairmont, Neb., at 2 p.m. Monday, December 29, 1975, with Rev. Jay Schmidt officiating.
"His Yoke is Easy" and "Just a Wayward Lamb" were sung as a duet by Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Swartz, accompanied by Mrs. Nancy Jo Galusha, organist.
Pallbearers were Gene Anderson, Jerry Galusha, William Jacobsen, Archie Kroeker, Ralph Schooch and Howard Tice.
Interment was in the Fairmont Cemetery.
