Fern was the daughter of Glenn Paul Dickey and Olive Ruth McKinley. She grew up in Randolph County and was a member of the Tilden Presbyterian Church. On 16 Jun 1928 Fern Lorene Dickey was the subject of an church examination.
On 16 Apr 1935, (obituary says 16 May 1935) Fern married Lawrence Edward Mulholland of Gary, Indiana. The ceremony was at Tilden United Presbyterian Church, Tliden, Randolph County, Illinois with the Rev. R. W. Wilson. The witnesses were Willard Campbell and Adella Downen. Fern and Larry had the following children: Glen Edwin and Ronald Ray.
For much of her life, Fern lived in Hobart, Indiana.
Fern's obit notes that she passed away after a lingering illness at the St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights at the age of 53 years.
The obituary lists the following survivors: her husband, Larry; two sons, Glen of Portage, Ind. and Ronald of Hobart; and seven grandchildren. In addition, she was survived by two sisters, Mrs. John (Doris) Goldschmidt, Hobart, and Mrs. Norma (Ray) Sauerwein of Tilden; two brothers, Robert of Marissa and Wayne of Milton, Florida.
Funeral serives were held at the Rees Funeral Home in Hobart with burial in Calumet Park Cemetery at Crown Point, Indiana.
