ACRES, BERTHA REED - aged 74, passed away at 12:05 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. JOE DAVIS in Oneida. She was a member of the West Oneida Baptist Church, a splendid Christian woman and had a great host of friends. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. BENTON JONES and Mrs. JOE DAVIS, both of Oneida, and Mrs. OVID TOMPKINS of Rugby; six sons, MILFORD and ALTON ACRES of Macon, Georgia, AUDNEY ACRES of Oneida, LLOYD ACRES of Clinton, Tennessee, SILAS ACRES of Rome City, Indiana, ARGIE ACRES of Amelia, Ohio; two brothers, CAMPBELL REED of Oneida and a JOHNNIE REED of Florida; three sisters, Mrs. DILLIE HARRIS of Science Hill, Kentucky, Mrs. ETTA STANLEY of Florida and Mrs. MARTHA POTTER of Gatliff, Kentucky; thirty-six grandchildren and thirty-seven great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted from the West Oneida Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. J. S. GARRETT and Rev. GENERAL CALVIN PHILLIPS officiating.
