Last Saturday Mrs. S. S. Exon after being in poor health for quite a long time passed away at the Exon home some five miles east of Mancos.
After coming west she lived principally in Durango. Later she met and married S.S. Exon, the ceremony being performed by Rev. Howard in Farmington, New Mexico. Rev. Howard was a M.E. preacher in Mancos several years ago. After their marriage they returned to the Upper Mancos where they resided on the old homestead until the time of Mrs. Exon's death last Saturday.
To this union was born a daughter who died in infancy.
On March 21, 1899, twin sons were born to them. One of them Robert Hobson Exon, died August 1, 1904 leaving the other, Henry D. Exon, who is the only child living.
S.S. Exon, the husband, came from Kansas to the Mancos Valley in 1881, served in the Spanish American War, and after the war closed, returned to the Mancos Valley and has lived herein all the years since that time.
Funeral services for Mrs. Exon were held at the Mancos cemetery Sunday at 2 pm under the auspices of the Salvation Army.
