CAUSE OF DEATH: AMYOTHROPHIC LATERAL SCLEROSIS {LOU GEHRIG'S DISEASE}
Survived by wife of 34 years: Loretta Monakino, one son: Paul Monakino, two grandchildren: Heather Monakino and Paul Monakino,Jr., He is the son of: Vita & Sam Sr. and had one sister: Margie, brother-in-law: Bobby & had numerous relatives, and a huge host of longlife friends. Sam was a graduate from the Jeff Davis High School in 1953, worked at the family owned grocery store Airline Super Market. After his service in The United States Marine Corps, where he became chef. After finishing the Marines, he returned to work in the family store for the next 15 years, married his wife, Loretta, and started his own family by the birth of one son: Paul Josef Monakino in 1964. Sam was a very busy man, and still found time to volunteer for numerous associations, of which he became President of along with coaching and sponsering many little league activities. He opened Sam's Country Bar-B-Q ay 8222 Airline Drive, in June, 1979, which started with a small business of 3 employees and grown into a business with 60 employees, and caters as well, and has catered as many as 14,000. He was a brave man, despite being diagnosed with ALS in November of 1996. He was loved and admired by family, friends, employees and his customers alike. We will never forget Sam, his memory will always be in our minds and hearts. We love you, Sam.
