Leonard was born near Cripple Creek, Colorado. After the death of his father the family moved to Grand Junction, Colorado. He moved to Vernal, Utah and meet Mary Elizabeth Hatch. They married 5 July 1929 in Grand Junction. They had two sons, Leonard Glenn Allen and Robert Jerry Allen. Mary and Leonard later divorced. Leonard married Loraine V Blennerhassett in 1958. After her death 1984 he married a women named Dottie. He passed away in Hemet, California. His sons had him buried in Mesa, Arizona. He was known as a true gentleman.
