Mrs. Viola L Frew, 88 of Godfrey, formerly of Knoxville, died Monday 12 Feb 1979 at 10:10 am in the VIP Manor Nursing Home, Wood River. Viola Means was born 6 Apr 1890, the daughter of Addison and Emily (Peterson) Means in Knoxville. She married Harry Frew in Knoxville in 1910. He died in 1958.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Leo (Lois) Jun of Godfrey, and eight step-grandchildren.
Mrs. Frew moved to Godfrey 20 years ago. She was a charter member of the Knoxville Christian Church and a member of the Jerseyville Rebekah Lodge.
Funeral was at the Gent Funeral Home, Alton. Additional services were held at the Martin-Trumbold Funeral Home in Knoxville, the Rev. Stanley McDougal, pastor of the Knoxville Christian Church, officiating. Burial was in Knoxville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Bethel Methodist Church in Dow, the family said.
