Loren M. Brouwer, 54, Pipestone, died Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at his home.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 14 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Pipestone, with Rev. Richard Sliper officiating.

Honorary casket bearers were the AA Fellowship and Thursday Morning Bible Study Group.
Casket bearers were his family and friends.
Interment was in Badger Lake Cemetery, Iona.

Loren Marvin Brouwer was born to Marvin and Rose (Kruger) Brouwer on May 26, 1954 at the Slayton Memorial Hospital in Slayton. In his younger years, he lived in Chandler, until his parents moved to Hadley, when Loren was in the second grade. While living in Hadley, he attended school in Slayton. After his graduation from Slayton High School in 1972, he became employed by Walt Van Dyke from Lake Wilson, building pole barns.

He married Kelli Keegan on June 30, 1978 in Hadley. Following their marriage they lived in Lake Wilson where Loren became a part-owner in Helmke Construction, continuing to construct pole bars in the area until 1982, when he sold his interest in the business and moved to Sioux Falls, S.D. At that time, he worked for Morrell's for 12 years. After his divorce, he returned to Lake Wilson and began working for S&K Construction.

While living there, he married Lori Wilson in Chandler. After their marriage they lived in the Lake Wilson and Chandler areas. For the past six years, Loren has lived in Pipestone and taken class at Minnesota West, Pipestone Campus, receiving his associate degree. He has also taken classes in alcohol and drug counseling at the Worthington Campus to enable him to work in the area of rehabilitation.

He had been attending Christ the King Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Iona Presbyterian Church. Was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous in Pipestone; was a volunteer driver for New Life Treatment Center and was a volunteer at Volunteers in Mercy.

He is survived by his three children, Kyle (Shana) Brouwer, Pipestone; Kyra Brouwer, Pipestone and Karl Brouwer, Crooks, S.D.; three grandchildren; his mother, Rose Brouwer, Hadley; two brothers, Verlyn Brouwer, Lake Wilson and special friend, Eileen Brandt and John Brouwer, Hadley; three sisters, Jeanine (Terry) Lloyd, Mankato; Anita Brouwer, Slayton and Darla Van Meveren, Hartford, S.D. and his special friend, Shar Church, Pipestone and her daughter, Amber and grandson, Anthony.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin and his niece, Victoria Brouwer.
