Era Faye Boone, age 85, of Johnson City, went to be with her Lord and Savior and reunited with the love of her life, Jacob, in Heaven April 21 , 2009. Faye was born the eldest daughter of the lateW.C. and Nellie Silvers Jamerson in Yancey County, North Carolina, on January 28~ 1924. She graduated from East Tennessee State College in 1952 with a Bachelor' s degree in elementary education. Also in 1952, Faye married Jacob Boone and they shared their lives together for 56 years until Jacob's passing in
2008. Faye's love of education and her gift of teaching began in the Washington County School system, where she taught throughout the 19508 and 60s. Faye was a life-long member of University Parkway Baptist Church and was very active in serving her Lord. Her favorite activity was to share the saving grace of the gospel with others. She taught the children, ages IO to 12, for many years and served as the church librarian for over 35 years. Her Christian ministry extended far beyond the church walls as she volunteered throughout her life with the Johnson City Boys Club as Bible teacher, with the Child Evangelism Fellowship and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Faye was recognized asa community leader by the Boys Club and awarded Program Volunteer of the Year in 1998 and Woman .. Boy award ill 1981, 1988 and 1989. Through the witness of Faye Boone, dozens of people have come to a saving relationship with Jesus. In addition to her parents and husband, Faye was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Erica Boone; brother, Hugh Jamerson; half-brothers, Carl and Columbus Jamerson; and half-sisters. Pearl and Juanita Jamerson. Faye was the mother of three children. Her son, Ronald, resides in Murfreesboro with his wife, Darlene. Her daughters are both residents of Johnson City. The eldest is Phyllis Boone. The younger daughter is Debra Edmisten and her husband, Larry. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Chelsea Boone-Belcher and Brandon Edmisten and loved to cook breakfast for them. She is also survived by brothers, Van Jamerson and
Reece Jamerson; sister, Edna Marshall; special family friend and "adopted daughter" Cindy Humphrey; and several nieces and nephews, The funeral service for Mrs. Boone will be conducted at 7:00 PM Thursday, Apri123~ 2009, from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with Dr. Michae'f Oaks officiating. Entombment will be conducted at 12:30 PM Friday, Apri1 24, 2009, at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those 'wishing to attend the entombment service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12 p.m, Friday. The family will receive friends from 5:00~ 7:00PM Thursday in the East Parlor of the funeral home prior to the service.
