James Kirby Barbe entered eternal rest on Thursday, April 29, 2010, in the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 82 years, 11 months, and 16 days.

James was born on May 13, 1927, in Bird Haven, Va., to Harry Lonas and Annie Marie Barbe. He attended school and was retired from the U.S. Air Force, where he proudly served his country. James was strong in his faith and was an assistant pastor for Glory Land Revival Church.

James was preceded in death by his parents; his former wife of 27 years, Geraldine Masters Barbe; and his children, David Michael Barbe and Ruth Barbe.

James is survived by his wife, Shirley A. Barbe; his children, James K. Barbe Jr., Diane McDonald, Patricia Hanson, Mary Barbe, Theresa Mayfield, Cindy Edwards, John Barbe, and Carol Hughes; his brothers, Matthew Halterman and Carson Halterman; and his sisters, Shirley Greene and Mary Barbe.
