She was born on June 4, 1917 in Unionville, IN to the late John Fielder and Edna (Branam) Fielder. Gledith was a school teacher for many years for Bloomington Township and Ellettsville Schools. She retired as the Principal of Stinesville. She was a member of the Maple Grove Christian Church, the Rebekah Lodge of Ellettsville, the Delta Kappa Gamma's, the Indiana Retired Teachers Association and the Monroe County Retired Teachers Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Baynes; brothers, John, Harold, Clinton, Warren, and Donald Baynes.
Gledith is survived by her sons, John Baynes of Spring Hill, TN and Ray Baynes of Bedford, IN; brother William Fielder of Cleveland, OH; three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Gledith will be held at Chandler Funeral Home on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Rick Amerine officiating. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
