Margret was the daughter of John and Agnes Emma (Congleton) Scherer. On March 15, 1906 she married William Christian Anderson at Yankton, South Dakota. They moved to William's family farm and remained there for the rest of their lives. When William died at age 41, Maggie remained on the farm to raise her seven children with the help of William's brother, Oscar, who was a bachelor. Maggie was a very loving, caring person and always put her family first. Her funeral was from the home farm with Rev. T. G. Wicks, of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Burial was in Elm Grove Cemetery.
