Jorita Elayne Shaffer, 67, of Ransom Canyon, passed away on March 9, 2009, at her residence. Jorita, a registered nurse, was born on July 4, 1941, to the late Lawrence and Minnie Drucilla (Collier) Fulford in Lakeview, Texas. She married Robert Dean Shaffer on March 2, 1972, in Lubbock; he preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 1977.

Those left to cherish her memories are her two sons, Kirk Shaffer and his wife, Patrice, of Sundown, and Kevin Shaffer and his wife, Janet, of Ransom Canyon; seven grandchildren, Megan, Logan, Brenna, Bryan, Destiny, Ethan, and Robert Dean, II; one great-grandson, Bradley; two brothers, Larry Fulford and Loyd Fulford; and one sister, Ruth Cantrell. Jorita also leaves behind a loving host of friends.

Celebration of Life Services were on Friday, March 13, 2009, in Agape Funeral Chapel with David Border officiating. Burial followed at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock.
