John was born in Pottsville on Aug. 16, 1990. He was a son of John Joseph and Joyce Ann Boner Anczarski, Ringtown. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Ringtown, and enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing and skiing.
In November of 2006, Johnny rose to the rank of Eagle Scout, with his project being the installation of the flag pole at the Ringtown American Legion Home, Post 298, West Main Street.
Johnny was a 2008 graduate of the North Schuylkill Jr./Sr. High School, where he was a six-year member of the DARE advisory board. He was also a four-year member of the golf team, and a member of the National Honor Society. He was a recipient of a college scholarship from the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans. Most recently, he was a sophomore year student at the University of Colorado at Boulder, majoring in chemical and biological engineering. He enjoyed acting, cooking and writing, and was a published poet. He was also pursuing his private pilot's license.
It was just over the winter break that he and his friends made the commitment to bicycle cross-country in "The Pink Pedal" to raise money for breast cancer awareness.
John is survived by his parents, John and Joyce, and his two brothers, Jamie Alexander and Jayden Michael, all of Ringtown; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 112 W. Main St., Ringtown. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2010, at the church, with Pastor Jay Serafin officiating. There will be no viewing prior to the service Thursday. Interment will follow services in the German Protestant Cemetery, Mahanoy City. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the John Anczarski Memorial Fund, in care of the Miners Bank, Frackville, PA 17931. All monies donated will be disbursed to charities that were important to Johnny. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Stauffer-Breznik Funeral Home, Ringtown.
