Deseret News, The (Salt Lake City, UT) - December 4, 2000

LaVerla Richards Anderson, 84, passed away peacefully in her sleep December 2, 2000 in West Jordan, Utah.

She was born Jan 3, 1916 to Robert Henry and Elva Marie Coon Richards. She married Alfred Orlando Anderson II Nov 12, 1937, and their marriage was solemnized June 27, 1938 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Mom was an active member of the LDS church, where she served in many callings. Her strength and testimony helped her husband and family through many trials and tribulations. Mom's spirit touched her family and all those she came in contact with. She loved all children, and she also had a great love for her savior, Jesus Christ.
Her mother taught her and her three sisters how to sing harmony at a very young age, and they sang as a quartet for many, many years. During the early 1950's mom and dad were flight partners in the civil air patrol, and helped in many life saving rescues.

She is survived by her sweetheart, Alfred; children, Buddy (Carol), Joy (Jerry) Richards, Gary (May), Darryl (Gloria), Lynn, David, Ann (Greg) Kevern; 26 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; sisters and sister-in-law, Beth (Mel) Brewer, Gladys (Jimmie) Hales, Donna (Ned) Nielsen, Dode Richards. Preceded in death by her parents; daughter, RaLee Oliver; brother, Nile; one granddaughter; and two great grandchildren.
