Well Known Inman Clothier Succumbs to Paralysis
All Inman was startled Friday morning by the report that Aaron Bargen, our well known merchant, had fallen unconscious in his store. The only person present was a piano agent from McPherson who immediately notified the family. Drs. Sprouse and Graves united their efforts to revive him, and they partially succeeded after they had taken him to the house, where his wife and friends under the instructions of the doctors did all they could to save the neighbor’s life. He became conscious and spoke with difficulty, found himself unable to write with his hand, as he tried and manifested much anxiety to learn the doctors’ opinions as to his real condition. Before he was able to communicate freely with his wife and children, another attack of his disease made him unconscious, and he grew weaker every moment despite the heroic efforts of the physicians, now joined by Dr. Zenner, and despite the most careful nursing given him by his wife and the kind neighbors who were always ready to serve and help. Monday, Feb. 5, 11 a.m., Aaron Bargen breathed his last, having reached the age of only 45 years, 5 months and 20 days, and leaving his wife and three children, Aaron, 16 years old, Bertha, and the baby. Aaron, the son, had been in Oklahoma and got home in time to be recognized by his dying father. D. Enns, our furniture man, is his stepfather, Henry Enns and D. D. Enns his half-brothers, Mrs. J. W. Nickel of Hutchinson, his half sister. His brother Jacob Bargen is the well known section foreman of Buhler, and his sister Ida is Mrs. Abr. Thiessen of Medford, OK. To give the relatives in Oklahoma time to come, the funeral was set for Friday, Feb. 8, 2 pm. Rev Abr. Ratzlaff will conduct the public funeral services in the M. E. church, and Rev. Kemp has been requested to make an English address and he or some other English minister will probably assist in the services.
