Sergeant Robert Chambers 1756-1836.
Military Service: Continental Army between 1777-1781 Revolutionary War from Augusta County, VA. He was a Sergeant under Capt Robert Higgins in Major John Stephenson's 8th Virginia regiment; taken prisoner at Charleston and held for 14 months and discharged 1781, granted a pension under law of 1881 which he renewed in 1883. A22176-6 B 33 Pension Rolls.

Family records say Robert Chambers was born Sept 15, 1756 in London, England.
The son of Richard and Anne Chambers, he came to America with his brother James Chambers.
He served in the Revolutionary War.
He married Hannah Doran (Thorne), and had 8 children.
He died in Linside, Monroe Co, WV.

1-Jacob (married Sarah Smith in Monroe 1802)
2-Richard (married Mary Garred in VA, moved to Louis Co KY)
3-John "Jack" (died of cholera in Cincinnati OH)
4-Robert Jr. (killed by falling tree before 1836, had a daughter Elizabeth)
5-Rev James (married Elizabeth G. Cole, d.o. Isaac and Margaret "Peggy" "Kate" Cole)
6-Anna (married Snow Ballard of Monroe Co)
7-Catherine "Kittie" (married Robert Curry Jr and settled on Island Creek but later moved to Indiana)
8-Col William F. b 1798 (married Perlexana "Lexie" Ballard and settled on Rum Creek) Died Peterstown.
