Newton L. PEVEY was the son of Frances HINELY & her first husband, James PEVEY C.S.A., who was killed near Atlanta in 1863, when Newton was only four years old.
In about 1881, Newton married Margaret Elvira WILSON (1864-1946), the daughter of Robert D. WILSON & Matilda L. THOMPSON. They were the parents of three sons:
• Roy D. PEVEY (1887-1956),
• Lauren Newton PEVEY (1888-1942, died in Louisiana), and
• L. M. PEVEY.
