TWO FROM COMMUNITY ARE REPORTED KILLED
Pvt. Wilbur France Dies in Germany; Pfc. Walter Budt in Action in the Pacific.

War Department messages saddened two homes and this entire community the past week.

Mr. and Mrs. Elting France Monday received word from the department that their son, Pvt. Wilbur France, died in Germany on June 27, more than a month after V-E Day.

The message contained no details, but stated a letter would follow. He was stationed at Gunzburg, Germany.

Pvt. France served with a supply unit. He was stationed at Fort Leavenworth, Kans. for some time before being sent overseas. He landed in France last February 1.

In addition to his parents and sisters here, there is a brother Orville France, MM 1 serving with the Navy. Orville has been in New Caledonia for some time.

Before entering service, Pvt. France worked as a surveyor in a war plant. Adept with tools, he also worked for Fred Ehlers, local contractor.
