Dr. Arthur A. Neuenschwander, 77, of Ossian, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2008, at Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.Born in Bluffton on Oct. 14, 1930 to Isaac and Melvina M. (Burry) Neuenschwander, he married Lois M. Wade in Dublin, Ohio on June 21, 1952; she survives. A 1952 graduate of Ohio State School of Animal Science, Dr. Neuenschwander also graduated from Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1962. He ran a private veterinarian practice in Ossian from 1962 to 1975, and retired from the Indiana State Board of Health as a meat inspector in 1997. He was a member of the IVMA and past president of the NEIVMA. He was a member of the Ossian Volunteer Fire Department from 1963 to 1975, and of Ossian First Presbyterian Church.Other surviving relatives include two sons, Thomas S. (Laura) Neuenschwander and Lee W. (Dawn) Neuenschwander, both of Ossian; one brother, John D. (Janice) Neuenschwander of Pandora, Ohio; one sister, Susan E. (Jack) Cupples of Findlay, Ohio; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, at Ossian First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jay Cline officiating. Calling hours will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Elzey Patterson Rodak Funeral Home and from one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial is at Oak Lawn Cemetery.Preferred memorials are to the church or the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
