Dominicus enlisted as a Private in the Union Army and was mustered into the 13th KY Infantry Co. B on Nov 11, 1863, at age 17. His enlistment occurred three days before his brother Hiram was killed in action at Huff's Ferry, Loudon, TN. He served with his brother William in this company. He was transferred to the 6th KY Cavalry Co. I in 1864. He continued to serve with the 6th KY Veteran Cavalry and was mustered out of service on Sep 6, 1865. He died from diseases incurred in the war about a month after returning home.
