Levi was the third of ten children born to Dominicus Conover and Rachel Bryant. He donated land for the original Conover School building c. 1860, which was rebuilt twice and consolidated into the Adair County school system in 1967, now serving as a fellowship hall for the Freedom Separate Baptist Church. He married Mary Ann Cravens on Feb 27, 1840 at the residence of Hiram Cravens in Russell Co., KY and had six children.
