Eliza Robb Adair was born in Fayette County, Pennsylvania and died at her residence in Des Moines, Iowa. Burial in the Masonic and IOOF Cemetery by the side of her husband who had preceded her in death just three weeks ago and whose faithful companion she had been for fifty-eight years.
She had been a resident of Des Moines for thirty years and previous to that had lived in Poweshiek County for twenty years. On October 28, 1913 she celebrated with her husband their Golden Wedding Anniversary.
She was a woman of splendid character, a strong advocate of temperance, a consistent member of the church, a devoted mother in her home and a loyal patriot. To all who knew her best she was Mother Adair.
She united with the Christian Church in Illinois, transferring her membership to Montezuma when she moved here and then to the Central Church of Des Moines thirty years ago. Her life was one worthy of emulation.
A number of years ago she was injured in a railroad accident and her decline set in from that time, never recovering from injuries & the shock received then.
She was in her seventy-fifth year and her entire life was filled with good. She left Montezuma for Des Moines thirty years ago, but her frequent visits here keep her in touch.
Besides her children, two sisters and one brother, survive. Mrs Eloisa Byers of Brooklyn, a sister, was the only one able to attend the funeral.
