Buck Catchings was born July 4, 1896 in the Red Rock area of Bastrop Co, TX to J."Frank Catchings and Minnie "Lou" Smith Catchings. He was the third of ten children. In 1916, at the age of 19, he married Ida Mae Donnell in Red Rock, TX. He was inducted into the US Army in 1917 until 1919 and served in Europe during World War I.
Buck and Ida were parents to three sons: B.C., Buford and Lloyd. They also raised their grandson, Lloyd Wayne Catchings. Buck was a farmer until his death at age 81 in 1978 in Austin, TX.
