Her father, Henry C. Harms and her mother, Elizabeth (Schweikert) Harms were married 2 June 1881 Young America, Craver County, Minnesota. They came to Spokane, Spokane County, WA about 1903. Christina was the oldest of 12 children.

She married William Tanke 27 March 1904 Spokane, Spokane County, WA.

In 1905 they started farming in the Downs area of Lincoln County, WA.
They retired and moved into Spokane, WA in the fall of 1937.

She was a passenger in a car driven by her husband en route to Spokane from Priest Lake, WA when they had an accident and she was fatally injured.

Their children were:
Willard Tanke born 19 December 1903 and died 4 February 1911 is buried next to his mother's parents in the Lamona Lutheran Cemetery, Lamona WA
