Cmdr. Milo Rumfelt, 77, of Purcellville, Va. died Sunday, April 1, 2001 at Loudoun Long Term Care Center. He was born May 28, 1923 at Neelys Landing, Mo., son of Robert and Mary Rumfelt. Rumfelt was a pilot with the U.S. Navy 33 years, retiring in 1976. He served during World War II, the Korean and Vietnam wars. He opened Leesburg Appliances, and established Dawson Gap Farm in Hillsboro, Va. He was also substitute teacher many years at Loudoun Valley High School, Blue Ridge Middle School and Loudoun County High School. Rumfelt wa a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, Hillsboro Ruritan Club, Leesburg Airport Council mnay years, and had been a Boy Scout leader. Survivors include his wife, Virginia, three sons, Michael Rumfelt of Charlottesville, Va., Daniel Rumfelt of Jamestown, N.Y., Timothy Rumfelt of Leesburg, Va., two daughters, Gina Vaughan of Creston, Ill., Gia-Mylan Anderson of Round Hill, Va., a brother, Alonzo Rumfelt of Middletown, Calif., three sisters, Hallie Pinkeron, Hannah Cotner and Jo Ann Johnson, all of Cape Girardeau, and nine grandchildren. Friends may call at Hall Funeral Home in Purcerville from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hillsboro Cemetery.
