Robert Colquitt served as a lad with his father in the Virginia Troops and drew land lots in 1804 and 1832 for his service. Robert was a man of much wealth, who was active in church and social circles, and at all times "a true friend to his church and to his fellow man." A long line of influential men and women are descended from him, among whom are four ex-Governors, including L. G. Hardman of Georgia. He died in Oglethorpe County, Georgia.
