Census: 1930, age 3, in Carthage, Jasper county, Missouri, with father, grandfather and brother.
Raised in Kansas City until 1 April 1928 death of mother, 14 hours after father's mother's death, then to Carthage, raised by aunt Edith Boggess till 1932 when dad married Muriel Margaret Haight, a widow of George J Busboom, with young daughter.
Attended Mark Twain grammar and Carthage high schools before entering New Mexico Military Institute, Roswell, Chaves county, New Mexico September 1942. '43 summer school with Harry Spradling at Wentworth Military Academy (WMA), Lexington, LaFayette county, Missouri, then back to NMMI where promoted to Buck Sergeant, followed by a year 1944/45 again promoted to Buck Sergeant, with lower classmen, George McNerney, Eddie Ulmer,jr and Charley Price. Enlisted in U S Army Air Force 10 August 1944 active duty July 1945, basic at Keesler field, Biloxi, Mississippi when V-J Day occurred, served at Scott field, O'Fallon, Illinois, Buckley field, Denver, Colorado till its closing then to Lowry field, discharged December 1946 Lowry field, Denver, Colorado, again attaining rank of Buck Sargent. Entered Finlay Engineering College, Kansas City, Missouri graduating December 1949. Employed in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Flint Steel Company then by a Wichita engineering firm, Floyd Devlan first in Topeka, Kansas following 1951 flood, then several locals in Kansas and Missouri before going with father's B & G Construction company, in Joliet, Will county, Illinois, returning to firm in Wichita then later an engineering firm in Topeka, Shawnee county, Kansas, Servis, Van Dorn & Hazard, then Bernard & Burke in Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana in 1957 to 1959, after spending several months in Ocean Springs, Mississippi on Davis Bayou, back north in December 1959 to Joplin, Missouri then January 1960 to Johnson county, Kansas with the public sewer district until 1969, to K U graduate school where I watched the Moon landing on TV, then Schlup, Becker and Brennan in K C, Kansas, to city of K C, Kansas' Water Pollution Control Department, and last at K C, Kansas office of Salina, Kansas' Wilson & company where I retired 9 April 1979, remaining in Johnson county till my move, June 1984, to Naples, Collier county, Florida then November 2006 removed thirty-five miles north to the six hundred acre, Shell Point Village near Sanibel Island, Lee county, Florida.
Hobbies: U S Coin, Currency, Postage stamps and sea shell collecting, boating, snorkeling & scuba diving, plus genealogy research of family and others.
Death: will likely be in Lee county, Florida with ashes sprinkled over Florida Bay near Flamingo, a Cenotaph, being a Veteran Administration's metal marker, placed next to my mother at Carthage, Missouri's Park cemetery.
