Excerpts from the Obituary:

Funeral services for Fred H. Schwemm, 68, of 135 North Avenue, retired railroad signal man who died of a heart attack last Thursday, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Stirlen Funeral Home, 149 West Main Street.

Mr. Schwemm was stricken at his home and died about 10 a.m. last Thursday. He had suffered from a heart condition that forced his retirement three years agao, but his deal was unexpected and came as a great shock to his family and friends.

Mr. Schwemm was born on a farm in Barrington Township June 29, 1889, the son of Fred and Alice Pierce Schwemm. He married Miss Ella Naeher of Barrington June 18, 1913, at Janesville, WI, where the couple made their home for the first seven years of their married life.

He was employed in the signal department of the Chicago and North Western railroad for some 14 years and then joined the Elgin, Joliet and Eastern Line where he worked in the signal division for more than 30 years.

The Schwemms lived at the North Avenue address for five years after leaving Janesville, then his work took them to Hobart, IN, where they resided for 22 years. They returned to their Barrington residence 11 years ago.

Mr Schwemm was a faithful member of the Salem Church, and attended services up to the Sunday before he was taken by death.

A number of out of town relatives attended the funeral. Many firend and former co-workers from Hobart and Janesville came to pay their last respects.
