They had six children: Joseph Nelson Kirkland, James Nelton Kirkland, Abner Archibald Forbes Kirkland, Joseph Edward Kirkland, Nellie Virgina Kirkland Steward Moore, and my mother, Susie Bell Kirkland Garrett (1908-1994).
