Dan, 61 of Lennon, passed away on Thursday, at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc. A memorial service was held at on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel with Rev. John Walworth officiating.
Dan was born to John and Letie (Whitinger) Axtell. He served his country honorably and faithfully in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On June 26, 1971 he married Geraldine Davis in Durand and together raised 2 sons.

Dan worked for General Motors for 30 years at the Metal Fab Plant in Flint retiring in 1999. He was also a firefighter for the Venice Township Fire Department for 25 years as well as a life member of the VFW AmVets Post 3720 in Swartz Creek.

Dan is survived by his wife of 30 years, Geraldine; 2 sons: Dan (Jennifer) Axtell of Corunna, Brad (Becky Bohms) of Durand; 5 grandchildren: Vanessa, Austin, Brandon, Devin, Trevor; 2 brothers: Lonnie (Carol) Axtell of Lennon, John (Brenda) Axtell of FL and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Venice Township Historical Fire Truck Fund or the American Heart and Lung Association. Watkins Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
