Eunice Maxine Markey

Eunice Maxine Markey, 94, of Wenatchee, passed away Wednesday October, 5, 2005. She was born June 28, 1911, in Rathdrum, ID to Samuel and Effie (Elston) Mathews. She moved at a young age with her family to Illinois where she got her schooling and graduated from West Point, IL High School in 1930. She married William T. Markey June 10, 1931, in Bowen, IL where they lived until September 1934, when they moved to Chelan, WA. They worked at Beebe Orchards for 14 years. They moved to Wenatchee in May 1949, and purchased an orchard on Walla Walla Street which is now part of Walla Walla Point Park. They lived there for 35 years until 1985, when it was purchased by the PUD for the park.
Mrs. Markey is survived by a daughter, Anna Mae Snyder of Wenatchee; two sons, William C. Markey of Wenatchee and Dennis (Rielle) Markey of Fairbanks, AK; four granddaughters, Dianna Booth of Othello, Sharon (Larry) Knight of Rosamond, CA, Serena Markey of Fairbanks, AK and Shana Markey of Vancouver, WA; and two grandsons, Tom Markey of Wenatchee and Eric Markey of Fairbanks, AK; seven great-grandsons; one great-great-granddaughter; and four great-great-grandsons. She is also survived by her brother, Floyd Mathews of Rosamond, CA; and several nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, William in 1979; her parents and a brother. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene for many years.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m Saturday, October 15, 2005, at Wenatchee Church of the Nazarene, 1011 S. Miller Street. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 17, 2005, at the Wenatchee City Cemetery. Betts Funeral Service are in charge of arrangements.
