Memorial services for Karl Dale Kleppinger Jr., are 2 p.m. Monday, May 3, at Highland Baptist Church in Natchez. The Rev. Paul Southerland will officiate.

Karl was born August 21, 1971, in Baton Rouge, LA.

He was a beloved husband and father, a hero to many and a friend to all, who will be greatly missed. He served in the United States Army during Operation Desert Storm.

Karl was employed by Transocean Offshore Drilling for 10 years, and considered his crewmates on the Deepwater Horizon his second family. He was a family man who enjoyed watching NASCAR and cooking barbeque.

Karl is preceded in death by his grandmother, Dorothy Lassitter and grandfather, Vernon Thornhill.

Survivors include, wife, Tracy Kleppinger; one son, Aaron Kleppinger both of Natchez; parents, Karl Dale Kleppinger, Sr. and Jo Ann Kleppinger; two sisters, Karen Nicholson of New Mexico, Margaret Kleppinger of Tylertown,; two brothers, Thomas Kleppinger of Magnolia, Robert Kleppinger of Tylertown; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Hartley and husband James, Alicia Sudduth and husband Matthew all of Natchez; father and mother-in-law, Robert "Butch" and Kathleen Sills of Natchez; a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, including Jade Sudduth, Logan Sudduth, Chloe Hartley and Kaitlyn Hartley all of Natchez; grandmother, Barbara Thornhill of Tylertown.
