Shawn Michael Schott, 27, of Sterling, went to heaven on May 6, 2010, after fighting a long battle with muscular dystrophy. Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Monday, May 10, at Tennant Funeral Home, followed by Rosary and Vigil at 6 p.m. at Tennant. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with the Rev. Robert L. Wedow celebrating.
He was born on July 26, 1982, in Sterling, to Michael and Katrina (Krier) Schott. Shawn attended Sterling schools.
Shawn attended the MDA Summer Camp for many years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, collecting baseball and football cards. He helped sell baseball cards at Baseball Bob's. He also enjoyed watching the Denver Broncos, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche and the Colorado Rockies. His favorite was John Elway and the Denver Broncos. He never missed WWE Wrestling matches and he also enjoyed playing Nintendo. He especially liked cruising around town in his wheel chair.
Shawn is survived by his parents; sister, Nicole Mayhill and husband Jeremy; nephew, Dillon Mayhill; brother, Joslen Schott; grandmother, JoAnn Krier; grandfather, John Griess; godparents, Rick Griess and Bernice Wiebers; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, including close friend "Big Brother" Keith Gentry.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward Schott, Betty Griess, Dale Krier; and Gizmo, his dog.
